The real deal

A few years ago I was riding my bike down one of the major streets where I live (not really on the street - sorta on the sidewalk or whereever the traffic wouldn’t kill me), near its intersection with an expressway, and I saw this configuration of parking blocks.

Only a skateboarder would be likely to notice this fine point of the suburban shitscape. But to a skater, it’s not a shitscape, it’s a wonderland where three liberated parking blocks equal hours of fun. Moving the blocks to this position…some might say it is a sign of rebellion. Or maybe self-expression. I’m not sure. It’s just what skateboarders do. They can build as many skateparks as they want, but this will always be the real thing.
