Skate Like You

As long as I’m just posting every random thing I think or look at tonight, I was thinking about this, so here it is…

I spend a lot of time watching skate videos of people whose skating I love. Some are pros, but most are not. Most are friends of mine, and they are all over the place as far as “skill level” and all have very different ways of skating. Different styles. Different interests in skating.

As I watch videos and think about this, I always come back to maybe the only thing I’ve ever said that I really believe. You will always skate like yourself, and to attempt otherwise is folly.

It’s great to enjoy someone else’s style. That style may influence you. But never, ever, try to skate like someone else. You are authentically you, and that is good enough.
